Former Nova Scotia Power customers may apply for refund

HALIFAX, NS – Nova Scotia Power is advising former customers that they may be eligible for a refund related savings the company made on fuel costs last year.

Current customers are receiving the rebate automatically as a one-time fuel credit on their power bills.

In 2016, Nova Scotia Power spent less than budgeted on renewable energy contracts and fuel used to make electricity. When the actual costs of fuel and renewable energy contracts come in below estimates, the company is able to refund customers.

If you were a customer in 2016 but have since disconnected service, you may be eligible for Nova Scotia Power’s fuel refund. The amount of the refund is based on your 2016 electricity usage. An average residential customer could receive between $20 and $50.

Former customers may apply for the fuel refund at Refunds will be issued by cheque in the name of the original account holder, and delivered by mail. Inquiries can be made by calling 1-800-428-6230.

Current customers of Nova Scotia Power who qualify for the refund will automatically receive a fuel credit on their bill by April 30 – most have already received it. There is no need for current customers to apply.
