Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps absorb natural warmth from the outside air and gently distribute it throughout your home. They provide affordable comfort all year, heating in the winter and cooling and dehumidifying in the summer.

Heat pumps are ultra-efficient compared to traditional heating systems, saving you money on your heating bills during the winter. They are an environmentally responsible way to heat and cool your home and they also clean your home's air – keeping pollen, dust, and dirt away so you can breathe easy.

Installation through our Contractor Network is a breeze and heat pumps are easy to maintain, no matter the season.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) are safe, reliable, environmentally friendly, and most importantly, save you money. Close to 30,000 EVs have been sold in Canada, and that number is growing every day.

EVs use electricity instead of gasoline, save you thousands of dollars a year on fuel costs and require less maintenance. They don't require oil changes, transmission fluid, or exhaust systems.

Hot Water Heaters

Electric water heaters are an economical and safe heating option storing hot water in a tank and only heating it when it is needed. They can be installed anywhere, produce no fumes or flames and don't require combustible fuels. The temperatures produced by water heaters are closely controlled.

The lifespan of an electric water heater is around 15 years, although it can be longer. They are the most affordable option to purchase and install compared to other fuel sources like oil, natural gas, or propane. The average cost is between $500 and $1,000, and because they are so efficient, the average electric hot water heater in Nova Scotia costs about $1.30 per day.

Electric Thermal Storage

Electric thermal storage (ETS) is a proven electric heating system that works with Nova Scotia Power's time-of-day (TOD) power rates.

ETS is a specialized electric heater that stores heat during off-peak hours when electricity costs are the lowest, and then releases the stored heat when it is required throughout the day.

ETS automatically delivers savings by storing up heat at night, taking advantage of the cheaper TOD power rate. You save money while keeping your home cozy and comfortable around the clock.

Home Battery Storage

Home battery storage is essentially a rechargeable battery for your home. The battery can be charged using an alternative energy source, like solar panels, or by the grid during off-peak times when a high amount of renewable energy is present.

That energy is then released during times of peak demand, shifting your home's energy consumption and making your home's environmental footprint smaller.

Home battery storage can also act as a backup power source for your home in the event of an outage.

Solar

Solar power will contribute to a cleaner, more secure and sustainable energy future.

Nova Scotia is leading the country in greenhouse gas reductions and is on its way to a cleaner energy future. Innovation and more diverse forms of renewable energy is an essential part of continuing to make this shift.
